NAPERVILLE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL REDHAWK HOCKEY TEAM

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 Thank you to those who have volunteered your time to make Redhawks Hockey a wonderful experience for players, parents, coaches, and game attendees. The program would not be a success without you.

If you have not signed up to help yet, there are tasks that need you!

POSITIONS CURRENTLY STAFFED

 WEBMASTER – Wayne Joza

 APPAREL/EQUIPMENT - Tom Vander Vliet

 TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR – Cindy Neumann

ALL POSITIONS

 

APPAREL/EQUIPMENT

            Work with suppliers to ensure Redhawk Hockey players equipment needs are met

            Current chairperson will work with the new volunteer to transition the duties and information

 

END OF SEASON PARTY

            Co-ordinate the end of season party in April

            Committee consists of 4-5 volunteers

            Decorations

            Acquire sports letters from Lorenzo’s

            Ask school for academic information and create academic certificates

            Ask coaches for player awards and engrave the plaques/trophies

 

SENIOR NIGHT

            Co-ordinate our Senior Night recognition in conjunction with Naperville North

            Scheduled when Redhawks play Naperville North, usually in January

            Acquire Senior Letters from the school

 

PUBLICITY –  VARSITY

            One or two people

            Game summaries for the Redhawk website

            Write-ups to newspapers – school, local (Sun, Daily Herald)

            Announcements and posters for selected games at school

 

PUBLICITY – JUNIOR VARSITY

            One or two people

            Game summaries for the Redhawk website

            Write-ups to newspapers – school, local (Sun, Daily Herald)

            Announcements and posters for selected games at school

 

TEAM MANAGER – VARSITY

            One Person

            Create labels for scoresheets

            Turn in scoresheets after home games (fax and mail)

            Maintain roster information for team

            Liaison between coaches and families

            Schedule refs for HIT home games

            Ensure team has First Aid kit available at all games and practices

            Contact person for tournaments that the team is participating in

 

TEAM MANAGER – JUNIOR VARSITY

            One person

            Create labels for scoresheets

            Turn in scoresheets after home games (fax and mail)

SKATE WITH THE HAWKS (FAMILY/ALUMNI NIGHT)

            Committee of 2 volunteers

            Co-ordinate the annual Family skate/Alumni exhibition game

            Send invitations to Redhawk alumni

            Work with coaches to plan skills events during Alumni game

            Co-ordinate snacks/drinks for the family skate

            Held in December

 

YEARBOOK


            Committee consists of 3-4 volunteers to work with the chairperson

            Co-ordinate ads for our yearbook

            Layout the yearbook with pictures, articles

            This is a major fundraiser for the club.

            Schedule team pictures

 

PASTA PARTY – VARSITY

            3-4 volunteers co-ordinate team pasta parties during the season

            Enlist families to host the pasta parties and prepare food or arrange parties at

            local restaurants.

 

PASTA PARTY – JUNIOR VARSITY

            3-4 volunteers co-ordinate team pasta parties during the season

            Enlist families to host the pasta parties and prepare food or arrange parties at

            local restaurants.

 

GOLF OUTING

            Committee of 5-6 volunteers

            One chairperson to lead the planning and schedule committee meetings

            Plan and execute the golf outing fundraiser in June

 

CHARITY EVENT – SHOOTOUT FOR CANCER

            Committee consists of one chairperson and 2-3 additional volunteers

            Co-ordinate the Redhawk activities for the annual Shootout for Cancer

            Held in conjunction with the other three Naperville High Schools

            Each hockey club responsible for soliciting donations and hosting a pre-event raffle

            Date is early February, planning starts in November

           

COORDINATOR OF TIMEKEEPING AND SCOREKEEPING

            One per team

            Attend Metro West’s meeting for timekeepers and scorekeepers to be aware of

                procedures in filling out scoresheets and doing timekeeping

            Instruct timekeeping and scorekeeping volunteers of their duties

            Ensure scorekeepers and timekeepers are provided

            Fill in for timekeepers/scorekeepers if necessary

 

CLOCK - VARSITY

            5 volunteers to share the timekeeping duties during the season

 

CLOCK – JUNIOR VARSITY

            5 volunteers to share the timekeeping duties during the season

 

SCOREKEEPER – VARSITY

            5 volunteers to share the scorekeeping during Varsity games for the season       

            Should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before games

            Ensure referees properly complete scoresheets before leaving the ice

 

SCOREKEEPER – JUNIOR VARSITY

            5 volunteers to share the scorekeeping during JV games for the season 

            Should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes before games

            Ensure referees properly complete scoresheets before leaving the ice

 

SKATE WITH THE HAWKS – 6th, 7th, 8th GRADERS

            Committee consists of 2 volunteers

            Co-ordinate the annual invitation to Jr. High skaters to come skate with the Redhawks

            Held in January
