Jeff Nelson – Director of Hockey and Varsity Red Head Coach

Jeff Nelson returns for his second season as the Head Coach of Varsity Red and Director of Hockey. He is coming off a strong ’09 season, finishing second in the Metro West with a record of 17-5-2. Jeff is the all-time leading scorer for the University of Illinois at Chicago (194 points in 156 games) and is a member of the UIC and AHAI Halls of Fame. Jeff played two years of professional hockey in Holland. He also played for the goal medal winning Team USA in the Spengler Cup in Switzerland.

Jeff has coached hockey at various levels over the last 19 years. He was the head coach at Waubonsie High School from 1991-1996. From 1996-2006, Jeff was the head coach of numerous teams with the Sabre Hockey Association. He is also a former Director of Hockey with the Sabres. Jeff coached with the Chicago Fury in 2007-2008. Jeff was a recipient of the AHAI Coach of the Year award.
