Frequently Asked Questions
- Who is eligible to play
for the Redhawks? To play, you must be a full time student within the
first eight semesters of high school at Naperville Central High School in
Naperville Community School District 203.
- How many teams will
there be? This year the RHA is pleased to announce that once again we
will field two teams, all of which will play in Metro West League. We will
field one Varsity team and one JV team. These teams will be called Central
Red and Central White.
- Who picks the teams?
The Coaches! The Board has absolutely nothing to do with team selections or
the process.
- How many players make
each team? Varsity and JV are each planning to select 17 players (15
skaters and 2 goalies). These numbers may vary depending upon the talent pool
available at try-outs.
- What happens if a player
does not make a team? We work very hard with the Sabre Youth Hockey
organization to assure that kids who do not make a Redhawks High School team
have a place to skate.
- When and where are
practices? The Redhawks will be moving to the Seven Bridges Ice Arena for
the 2010-2011 season and each team will have its own permanent locker room!

other considerations. Off-ice practice may continue past dates shown above at
the coaches discretion.
- When are the games?
Metro West League Games are normally held in the late afternoon and evenings
on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
- How many games and how
long is the season? The official season for the Metro West league is a
minimum of 22 games for both Varsity and JV. Both teams will participate in a
pre-season tournament, out of town tournament, Thanksgiving and Christmas
tournament. At the completion of the regular season league games, a league
tournament will be held, followed by AHAI’s Blackhawk Cup (also known as the
State Tournament). The season runs from September to March.
- Can I play on 2 hockey
teams? The Redhawks will allow players on the Varsity and JV teams to
play for another team. However, players interested in doing this must contact
the coach the first day of tryouts to discuss the commitment expected from the
Redhawks organization. Players are expected to make all Redhawks practices.
Absences will result in loss of playing time.
- Will the Redhawks be
playing in HIT? We will not play in the HIT tournament. However, we will
be playing an additional 6 to 10 games against some of the best teams in the
state.
